The Institute widens access to verified, standards-based credentials. Its scholarship programmes reduce the cost of enrolment and examination for candidates who demonstrate need, promise or a commitment to raising standards in their market.
WIDENING ACCESS
A profession open to proven talent
MIFS certifies competence and integrity through rigorous proctored examination and cryptographically verifiable credentials. That standard should be reachable on merit, not means. The Institute's scholarships defray a share of enrolment and exam fees so that capable candidates are not excluded by cost.
Scholarships are awarded across all six programmes and in every region where MIFS operates. Recipients meet the same examination standard as every other candidate. Financial support changes what a candidate can afford, never what the credential requires. Proven, not just claimed.
Award windows align with the published exam windows for each programme. Candidates are encouraged to apply early, as places in each cohort are limited.

EARLY CAREER
Student Scholarship
For: Current university students and recent graduates beginning their path toward a MIFS credential.
Covers: Enrolment support and a reduced first-exam fee, typically toward CFES or CFMA.
DIVERSITY
Women in Finance Scholarship
For: Women advancing toward analyst, portfolio, risk and leadership roles across the profession.
Covers: A share of enrolment and exam fees, with priority given across all six programmes.
REGIONAL
Regional Development Scholarship
For: Candidates in markets where verified credentials are still emerging and local capacity is being built.
Covers: Enrolment and exam-fee support, coordinated with MIFS Societies in the region.

For: Firms certifying teams at scale, from new joiners through experienced practitioners.

ELIGIBILITY & PROCESS
How to apply
The process is the same across programmes. Applications are assessed on the stated criteria and awarded within the relevant exam window.
1. Confirm eligibility
Review the programme that fits your circumstances. Applicants should intend to sit a MIFS examination and be able to evidence the relevant criteria, whether financial need, student status, or regional context.
2. Prepare your application
Set out the credential you intend to pursue, your motivation, and the supporting evidence for the scholarship you are applying to. Employer-sponsored cohorts are arranged through the sponsoring firm.
3. Submit within the window
Send your application to the scholarships team ahead of the exam window for your chosen programme. Windows align with the published exam calendar, so early submission is advised.
4. Assessment and award
Applications are reviewed against the published criteria. Successful applicants receive an award confirmation setting out the share of enrolment and exam fees covered, and the next steps to register.
FEE CONTEXT
What a scholarship offsets
A first credential carries a one-time enrolment fee of £275, alongside the examination fee for the chosen programme. Exam fees range from £245 for CFES to £695 early or £895 standard per level for the CMFA charter. Scholarships cover a share of these costs; they do not change the examination itself.

Can I apply to more than one scholarship?
Candidates should apply to the single programme that best matches their circumstances. If more than one appears to fit, describe your situation when you enquire and the Institute will direct you to the most appropriate route.

Does a scholarship change the exam?
No. Every candidate meets the same examination standard, sat under the Meridian Sentinel proctoring system. Financial support affects only what a candidate pays, never what the credential certifies.

Which programmes are eligible?
All six MIFS programmes are eligible for scholarship support, from the CFES foundation certificate to the three-level CMFA charter. Award windows follow the exam calendar for each programme.
