How to join
Ways to join and eligibility
Membership follows a short, verifiable path. Candidates may affiliate for free while studying; credential holders apply for the grade their qualifications and experience support.
Confirm eligibility
Candidate Affiliate is open free to anyone studying. Member requires any MIFS credential in good standing. Professional Member adds 3+ years of relevant experience. Fellow is by nomination.
Apply for your grade
Submit your application with your credential details. The Institute verifies standing against its credential and revocation records.
Attest to the Code
Members and above attest to the MIFS Code of Ethics and the seven Standards of Professional Conduct on joining and at each renewal.
Activate benefits
On confirmation, members receive their verifiable digital badge, directory listing, post-nominal rights and full access to events, research and the career centre.
- ✓Good standing required. Membership is conditional on adherence to the Code and completion of the annual CPD requirement.
- ✓Experience, evidenced. Professional Member applicants confirm relevant experience; the Institute may request verification.
- ✓Fellowship by nomination. FMIFS recognises sustained contribution to the profession and is conferred through nomination, not application alone.
Local societies
A community in 60+ cities
MIFS Societies bring the standard to a local level — from London, New York and Singapore to Hong Kong, Toronto, Dubai, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Sydney, Johannesburg and São Paulo. Societies run events, mentoring and exam-prep groups, connecting members and candidates in their own markets.
Society membership is included with membership. Candidate Affiliates are welcome at society exam-prep groups while they study.
